You can visit the Discovery Centre and watch one of the three feeding sessions a day with rehabilitated and rescued penguins. This is a fun way for children to interact and learn about the Penguins on Penguin island.
The island isn’t open from June to September, but when it is open, you can buy a day pass. This day pass will include the ferry ride and entry into the Discovery Centre, for $25 per adult and $20 per child aged 3 to 12. Ideal for summer fun, King’s Park features the Rio Tinto Naturescape, and this is a fun space that gives kids who grew up in the city the chance to take part in a ‘natural world bush experience’ right in the heart of Perth.
There is a waterhole and creek for paddling, fun aerial walkways and a large web of climbing ropes named The Tangle. If you visit this local park during wildflower season, you can even go on a short hike and take the whole family wildflower spotting along the trails.

North Perth is home to the Hyde Park Water Playground, and this park features a range of fun things including tipping buckets, a huge spongey splash pad, water jets and spray squirt guns. The playground uses water from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from November to March, and the water is on a 10-minute timer.
If you go to Ellenbrook, just opposite the local library, you’ll find Rainbow Waters Playground. During summer, it’s open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and it features open splash zones, tunnels and a range of obstacles guaranteed to get you wet and keep you cool in the warm weather.
